Out Of Town were 1st born in 1989 and the original line up was as follows,
Karl Birch - Guitar & Vocals
Tony Hamer - Bass Guitar & Vocals
Keith Partington - Drums & Vocals
Phil Kearney - Lead Guitar & Vocals
The early years were spent playing the Bolton live music scene and O-O-T gained a massive following in and around Bolton and earned great respect from promoters and other local bands alike.
The band played venues such as the Crown & Cushion, Oscars Bar, The Railway, Farnworth, Hawthorns (now Indie Go) to name but a few in the Bolton area. They also won the Bolton "BATTLE OF THE BANDS" contest held at the Albert Halls in 1991 and came a close 2nd in the Wigan alternative, held at JJ's Nightclub.
This led to more exposure in the press and support slots to groups such as Catherine Wheel, Chelsea, UK Subs and Tenpole Tudor (which unfornuately didn't happen due to Ed Tudor Pole getting the gig on "The Crystal Maze".
The band however were securing their own headlining spots and played gigs at The Witchwood in Ashton Under Lyne, as well as a two date mini tour in Kentish Town and Brixton, London, where they were received with just as much enthusiasm as back home.
Further gigs followed and the interest grew, but the band always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time in terms of securing a record deal. The straw that broke the camel's back was at the gig in Kentish Town which was arranged by a record label and included three bands. O-O-T were the headline act and the warm up act were "These Animal Men" and they were SHITE!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, 4 weeks later who should appear on Top Of The Pops but These Animal Men who had secured a deal, probably from the Kentish Town gig. Anyway after that appearance they were never seen again.
The gigs continued and the trips to the recording studios increased and in 1996, Keith's brother Ian (who had almost single handedly drummed up the support for the band in his age group) joined the band as a backing vocalist. This was to be a shortlived experience and after recording two songs at the Shamrock Studios in Blackburn, and a gig at the Queens Hall in Bradford, O-O-T called it a day after an eventful night full of beer, puke, insults and punches!!!!!!!!
The members of the band went off and did their own things, forming others bands, and three members went on to form
NO BALL GAMES, from the ashes of OUT OF TOWN and an 8 track recording was produced with the help of a new vocalist, Maurice Birch.
When NO BALL GAMES ended, Keith Karl and Tony were part of the still highly successful Punk Tribute band INDE30s but O-O-T / N-B-G was always close to their hearts, and as a result, Keith and Tony reformed
OUT OF TOWN with the new line up as follows
Ian (E) - Vocals
Jason (Fitzy) - Guitar/Vocals
Tony (Hitler) - Bass/Vocals
Keith (Jake) - Drums
Time has moved on and the group are not getting any younger and dreams of contracts and things faded years ago. What the band are about now is having a good time and entertaining the public who go to see them.
Their genre will be playing most of the classic punk songs, with some more modern stuff thrown in for good measure, along with resurrecting a few of the original
O-O-T tracks, which will eventually be re-recorded.
